गत 2 मई 2022 देवन शशी आचार्य उर्फ़  देवा अन्ना को आजीवन याद रहने वाली है, अन्ना को इस दिन राष्ट्रवादी कांग्रेस पार्टी में असंघठित कामगार विभाग के मुंबई अध्यक्ष नियुक्त किए गए, सांसद सुप्रिया सुले व मुंबई कार्याध्यक्ष राखीताई जाधव के हस्ते नियुक्ति पत्र सौपा गया |

समाज के हर तपके की सेवा करने का दृण निचय लेकर देवन शशी आचार्य उर्फ़  देवा अन्ना ने राजनिति में अपना कदम 16 साल पहले रखा, तभी तो राष्ट्रवादी कांग्रेस पार्टी का साथ नहीं छोड़ा जिसका यह नतीजा हैं की पार्टी के असंघठित कामगार विभाग के महाराष्ट्र प्रदेश अध्यक्ष विलासभाउ बडवाईक ने अन्ना पर यह जिम्मेदारी सौंपी |

देवा अन्ना ने बताया की असंघठित कामगार के अधिक से अधिक कामगारों को सदस्यता दे सकू, उनके हेल्थ, बच्चों की पढाई , महिलाओं शिक्षा उन पर हो रहे अन्याय के लिए आवाज़ उठा सकू  | इन कामों में मेरी प्राथमिकता रहेंगी |

आपको बता दे की देवन शशी आचार्य को 18 -10 – 2010 को वर्सोवा तालुका का उपाध्यक्ष पद  से करवा शुरू हुआ फिर राष्ट्रवादी होटल कामगार संघ मुंबई उपाध्यक्ष का पद 12 -10 -2012 को तो एसइओ 2013 से 2018 बने रहे इस बिच 2014 में उतर पश्चिम जिल्ला में  उपाध्यक्ष नियुक्त किये गए, और फिर 2020 में चित्रपट – साहित्य, कला और सांस्कृतिक विभाग में देवन शशी आचार्य को मुंबई उपाध्यक्ष की कमान सौपी गयी |

और अब असंघठित कामगार विभाग में  मुंबई अध्यक्ष नियुक्त  हुए देवन शशी आचार्य | उन्हें महाराष्ट्र सरकार में कामगार और ग्राम विकास मंत्री हसन मुश्रीफ ने बधाई दी, मुंबई कार्याध्यक्ष नरेंद्र राणे ने भी अन्ना के इस नए सफर के लिए शुभकामनाएं दी |

The Cine and TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) is one of the leading and most recognized associations for the performers community in India and an affiliate of the International Federation of Actors (FIA). The members present on the dais were Darshan Jariwala (Vice President), Amit Behl (Hon General Secretary), Rajeshwari Sachdev (Sr. Joint Secretary), Abhay Bhargava (Treasurer) Sanjay Bhatia (Joint Secretary) along with other EC members Tina Ghai, Jaya Bhattacharya, Hetal Parmar, Ravi Jhankal, Deepak Qazir, Rashid Mehta, Ghanshyam Srivastav and Vikas Verma.

A tribute was given to deceased CINTAA members Siddharth Shukla, Ghanshyam Nayak, Arvind Trivedi, Nitin Malhotra, Baldev Trehan, Madhavi Gogate-Barve, Mushtaq Merchant, Arun Verma, Ramesh Deo, Sanjay Kumar, Ajay Kumar Sharma, Akash Nath, Shiv Subramaniam, Manju Singh, Arun Khanna and Salim Ghouse.

Pankaj Dheer, Chairman of Cine Artists Welfare Trust shared the good news of the receipt of the final occupancy certificate of the CINTAA Tower building. He also added that work was on to create a state-of-the-art Auditorium and a cafeteria besides other amenities. The bid was to generate maximum revenue from the building and lease, and the rentals would be for the welfare and well-being of CINTAA members, he divulged.

During the course of the meeting, nearly an hour was spent answering a volley of questions raised by CINTAA members. From casting issues, to non-timely payments to actors, from health and safety to hygiene protocols, substandard food served on the sets to lack of transport facilities, each grievance was taken up by the Hon Gen Secretary Amit Behl in the most honest and healthy manner, ensuring that the executive committee’s recognition of the multiple challenges endured by actors was felt by the members and that they shall spare no effort to iron out the glitches. He also categorically stated that unity is strength and that the association must put up a collective fight.

While CINTAA have always approached the Channels, Producers’ Association and producers to find ways to mitigate the troubles of their members, there have not been too many encouraging responses. The association stays committed to fight every issue. OTT is a growing platform for actors to get work and though CINTAA under its governing laws cannot function as a casting agent, they will certainly explore options as a facilitator. They also mentioned that CINTAA is ready to fight for residuals and royalties for their members.

Reaching out to the Government be it I & B, Labour, Cultural or even Finance would be an ongoing process, soliciting support and assistance from FIA would be an added effort. Since CINTAA has an MOU with FWICE they will also take FWICE’s support on joint and common issues.

The Annual General Meeting approved all of the resolutions on the agenda.

“Sati” is a thought-provoking visual portrayal showcasing the dark past of India. A woman who has stepped into an afterlife with her husband, a woman who has been a ‘dutiful’ wife, a woman who has traveled an extra mile through forced traditions and beliefs, a woman who ‘commits’ SATI. Illustrating intense subjects in every twirl and swirl, Sati aims to educate society on women’s empowerment in the form of dance.
This concept has plagued society and has become a tool to enforce the norms of patriarchy. Women have stayed quiet for too long, experiencing them fighting back and having their stories heard, their pleas answered through the expression of dance. Sati sheds light on the dark past of India and how it is still oppressing women in this day and age.
Directed & Choreographed by Saiba Sayed, he specializes in Indo-contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, ballet, salsa, kathak, body anatomy, and more with over 20 years of experience, he has successfully trained over 200 celebrities, 20,000 school children, and 100 corporates in various countries across the globe, quotes saying “In fond memory of my mother, I give you Sati. Laughter. Tears. Laughter. Tears. On and on it went. 

Kolkata, 9^th May 2022

What a show it was. Terrified of Twenty-Five, a Broadway style solo musical, that premiered in Kolkata, at the amphitheater at the pristine Emami Arts, was a spectacle of the heart. An experience that I am sure none of the lucky spectators are going to forget in a long time. Basking in the glory of all her hard work over the past two years, was the creator, composer and performer of the musical, Jhansi. Firstly, to even have our own young people creating such distinct and stylised work in Kolkata, writing, composing and performing in the style of Western Musical Theatre (Broadway), was incredibly exciting. However, what we were not ready for, when we went in, was exactly how much our own personal life would be reflected as she performed. From our deepest shames and insecurities, to our very real fears of losing loved ones, to how utterly ridiculous the wedding industry is, she covered all the topics that plague us, all of us.

The show might be called Terrified of Twenty-Five, but it made everyone, old and young, laugh till their belly ached, and secretly cry into their handkerchiefs.

Honestly, it felt like a mirror in our faces, forcing us to confront our truths, while we felt safe in the warm embrace of the darkness and Jhansi’s brilliant words and music.

Strangers in tears hugging her after the end of each show, people messaging her days later, to speak of revelations that they applied in their lives, to guests in shock “How did you know my story. This is MY story”, we saw it all.

I guess… it is OUR story. We humans, who like to think of ourselves as alone in our suffering, our anxieties and our hopes. This musical proved this for sure. We are not alone, and we are SEEN.

Jhansi saw us. And she created this incredible rollercoaster of a musical. If the purpose of art is to heal, well, this show completed its purpose and some more.

About Jhansi (Tanvi Rajgarhia):

Our homegrown Kolkata girl, Jhansi, trained at Lasalle College of the Arts Singapore, getting her BA in Musical Theatre Performance.

She is determined to establish western Broadway style musicals in India, by telling OUR OWN stories. Talk about us, our challenges, our society, our people, while using this incredible art form. Not to mention, entertain the heck out of you.

She began her writing journey with Broadway style political parodies  , moving on to bigger pieces of music storytelling at festivals and shows to much online appreciation, Mama, Chai? (Online Kommune): 

“If you have ever had a dream that you could not fulfill, I wrote this show for you. Aaja dost, bond karte hain.” Says Jhansi.

She was even on a Netflix show, Queens of Comedy, where she was the only music comedian competing. Now she is writing full scale musicals, such as the one you are invited to.

After the premier of Terrified of Twenty-Five, Jhansi is off to New York City to audition for the second round of the merit based, prestigious BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop, where she has been asked to come audition as a lyricist finalist.
